Through explanatory content and audiovisual materials, they raise awareness about inclusive democratic participation. The videos are useful for training, awareness-raising, and educational purposes within SPARK activities.
SALTO Youth provides practical tools, case studies, and examples of inclusive youth participation across Europe. Its resources highlight how youth councils, consultations, and participatory projects can be adapted to include young people with fewer opportunities, including those with disabilities. This platform offers concrete inspiration for implementing inclusive participation models aligned with the SPARK project’s goals.
This OECD resource explores innovative approaches to youth engagement and democratic participation, including participatory governance, co-creation, and inclusive policy design. While not disability-specific, it provides valuable insights into how political systems can be redesigned to better include underrepresented groups. Its emphasis on democratic innovation strongly aligns with SPARK’s focus on co-creation and inclusive participation.
This publication by Inclusion Europe focuses on the political rights and participation of people with intellectual disabilities. It addresses accessible voting, easy-to-read information, and inclusive decision-making practices. Although centred on intellectual disabilities, many of its findings and tools are transferable to young people with psychosocial disabilities, making it a valuable resource for practitioners, policymakers, and youth workers involved in SPARK.
This research project by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) examines barriers, challenges, and good practices related to the political participation of persons with disabilities across EU Member States. It provides evidence-based insights into legal, physical, and attitudinal obstacles, as well as recommendations for inclusive reforms. The research is highly relevant to SPARK as it supports policy recommendations with comparative European data.
The European Accessibility Act is a key EU policy initiative aimed at improving the accessibility of products and services across the internal market. While not focused exclusively on political participation, it has significant implications for access to information, communication technologies, and digital services used in electoral and civic processes. By promoting accessibility standards, the Act supports the creation of more inclusive political environments for young people with disabilities.
